GRANTS, N.M. — A male Mexican gray wolf has returned to an area near Grants after being taken back to an experimental population area in New Mexico.

Wildlife advocates said they first spotted Taylor the wolf in the Mount Taylor area in May. New Mexico Game and Fish crews trapped and relocated him to the Gila National Forest inside the Mexican gray wolf recovery zone.

Then, in July, he returned to Mount Taylor. Crews moved him back south again about two weeks ago but he almost immediately came back.

Advocates claim this is further evidence the wolves are ready to roam beyond their recovery zone.
