On Wednesday morning, the United States unveiled its Olympic and Paralympic hockey jerseys that will be worn by the men’s and women’s hockey teams, along with the U.S. Paralympic sled hockey team, during the upcoming Winter Olympics in Milan, Italy.

The jerseys were officially revealed by two-time Paralympic gold medalist Jack Wallace on NBC’s “Today” show.

The jerseys, designed by Nike, were inspired by the jersey worn by the 1960 men’s Olympic team that captured the first-ever Olympic gold medal for the United States.

There are two jerseys — one crisp white and the other royal blue, which really pops. The jerseys feature bold diagonal  “USA” lettering across the chest and a gold-accented USA Hockey crest. Inside the collar, the words, “land of the free, home of the brave,” serve as a powerful reminder to every athlete that wearing the jersey represents something greater than themselves, USA Hockey said in a release.

Hockey Canada unveiled its jerseys earlier this month.

Replica jerseys go on sale Dec. 4 at 9 a.m. ET exclusively at ShopUSAHockey.com for 24 hours. Jerseys will be available Dec. 5 at all other retailers.

The women’s tournament begins on Feb. 5, with Team USA looking to win its third gold medal and first since 2018. The Americans, after winning gold in the first women’s tournament in Nagano, Japan, in 1998, have also won four silver medals (2002, 2010, 2014, 2022) and one bronze medal (2006). The women swept the first two legs of the four-game rivalry series against Canada in Cleveland and Buffalo earlier this month and will take on the Canadians again in Edmonton on Dec. 10 and 13.

The men’s tournament kicks off Feb. 11 with NHL players back for the first time since 2014. The Americans have won two gold medals (last winning in 1980), eight silver medals and one bronze medal. The most recent medal for the U.S. was at the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver. Sidney Crosby’s “Golden Goal” in overtime resulted in a silver medal for the United States.

The United States announced its first six players for the Games in Milan in June: Auston Matthews, Jack Eichel, Quinn Hughes, Charlie McAvoy and Brady and Matthew Tkachuk.

The para hockey tournament starts on March 7. The American team has won five gold medals and one bronze medal.

The tentative plan is to publicly announce the United States’ men’s, women’s and sled hockey teams together sometime between Dec. 31 and Jan. 3.

Czechia, Switzerland, France, Slovakia, Finland and Germany have also already revealed their jerseys.
