This week marks the Thanksgiving holiday for people nationwide. And we were absolutely eating with the most recent episode of Survivor 49. Tensions are high, with several players hitting emotional lows. Loyalty continues to waver, as two of the biggest swing votes decide to make their move. And it results in the biggest Tribal Council of the season, full of idols — both real and fake — and a shocking blindside.
Check out spoilers about tonight’s episode below and find out who was voted out.
Who was voted off on Survivor 49 tonight?
‘Survivor 49’ contestant Jawan PittsRobert Voets/CBS
Jawan Pitts, at his core, is a provider. It was a role he was born to play, becoming one of the caretakers of his siblings from a young age. And so, when he wasn’t able to make fire on Day 2, he had an emotional moment, which pinged on the radar of Savannah Louie. While she was in an alliance with Jawan, she took it as a sign that he may not be a reliable ally. And those reservations turned into a grudge when he proceeded to accidentally use her things, leading him to reside at the bottom of the Uli majority.
For what it’s worth, Jawan was cognizant of his spot as well. And so, when the merge hit, he and Sage Ahrens-Nichols decided to take over the game. The “Bottoms Up” alliance flipped the game upside-down, as they turned on their former tribe members. The video editor seemed to have final cut on who stayed and who went, and he and Sage actually flipped back to the Ulis over the next two votes. But when Savannah lost immunity, they decided now was finally the time to strike. Unfortunately for Jawan, there was a slew of things in play, including two idols, a secret Extra Vote, and Sophie Segreti outing their plans to the Ulis. And so, at Tribal Council, Jawan nodded to Savannah, revealing that he was the one behind the move against her. But she would ultimately have the last laugh, as the underdogs prevailed to blindside him. As much as he took care of people, in the end, they took care of him.
Were any advantages found or played on Survivor 49 tonight?
Yes, and how! With the Ulis initially agreeing to vote out Steven Ramm, Kristina Mills used her idol on him, negating any votes. Then, just when people thought Rizo Velovic was going to finally play his idol, he pulled a fast one on them, revealing it was just a fake to gauge people’s reactions on the idea of playing it on Savannah. Savannah herself, meanwhile, used her Extra Vote she secretly got from the split Tribal Council, making the final vote 5-3-1.

An emotional breakdown — and breakthrough
Kristina was not in a good place on Day 18, either strategically or emotionally. Feeling betrayed, gutted and isolated from being on the bottom, she lamented the fact that she did not have her previous support system, her late mother, with her right now. That sentiment bubbled to the surface in a major way before the Reward Challenge, blurting out, “I don’t even have my mom anymore, and it’s f—king not fair. It’s not fair.”
Jeff Probst responded in kind by saying that her using this opportunity to connect with her mom is exactly the kind of transformative experience that Survivor is all about to him. At ont point during the challenge, Kristina got caught in a preciarous place, hanging for her life on a balance beam. But she, remarkably, was able to power through, perhaps channeling her mother’s energy in that moment. While she and her team ultimately lose the challenge, she felt like she truly won in getting to have that opportunity, and bounced back considerably from her low point.
