The Chicago Sky have added a defensive assistant coach to Tyler Marsh’s staff as the franchise looks to make moves and appease Angel Reese.
Reese, one of the rising stars in the WNBA, has clashed with the Sky recently after she criticized the franchise’s decisions of late. Missing the playoffs for the second straight season, the 23-year-old was frustrated by the lack of moves that would propel the Sky upward.
The organization did not take Reese’s comments lightly, suspending her for half a game in a late-season game. After Reese opted to skip her exit interview, rumors are circulating that she may be considering a move away should the Sky not make winning moves.

While it is not the star teammate Reese may crave, the Sky added Latricia Trammell as an assistant. Trammell has eight seasons of coaching experience, including two years as the head coach of the Dallas Wings from 2023 to 2024.
“Latricia’s three decades of coaching experience and impressive resume make her a thrilling addition to the staff,” Marsh said. “She’s produced impressive results at every level of her career and will be key in elevating the Sky.”
In her first year as a head coach with the Wings in 2023, Dallas won 22 games — the most since the franchise relocated to Dallas in 2016.
Despite being a defensive mastermind, the Wings had a potent offense under Trammell; in 2023, the team ranked third in points per game and offensive rating.

Trammell’s presence on the staff may delight Reese, but her previous comments suggest more moves must be made for the Sky to be competitive.
Speaking with the Chicago Tribune, Reese shared her frustrations about what was another lost year in Chicago, with the Sky winning only 10 games in 2025.
“I am very vocal about what we need and what I want,” Reese said. “I’d like to be here for my career, but if things don’t pan out, obviously, I might have to move in a different direction and do what’s best for me.
“But while I am here, I’m going to try to stay open-minded about what I have here and maximize that as much as I can.”
She added: “I’m not settling for the same s— we did this year. We have to get good players. We have to get great players. That’s a non-negotiable for me.
“I’m willing and wanting to play with the best. And however I can help to get the best here, that’s what I’m going to do this offseason.
“So it’s going to be very, very important this offseason to make sure we attract the best of the best, because we can’t settle for what we have this year.”
