This year came with some Thanksgiving news, as one of Oregon’s top girls golfers will soon be headed to the college ranks.
On Thursday afternoon Westview’s Melinee Udom announced via social media that she is verbally committing to BYU.
Last year, as a sophomore, Udom completed one of the most dominant seasons in Oregon history.
She lifted the Class 6A state championship with an impressive 5-under par 135.
The performance included a 5-under par 67 in the back half as she took the lead in a crowded field. Udom’s second day of competition is tied for the third best performance in an 18-hole OSAA state championship tournament.
Udom is the younger cousin of Alexa Udom, who was also an OSAA state champion golfer at Westview and also golfs collegiately for BYU.
