In around two weeks, John Cena is set to perform in his final-ever WWE match at ‘Saturday Night’s Main Event’. The legendary superstar will face the winner of the ongoing 16-man “The Last Time is Now” tournament. With the event quickly approaching, former WWE CEO Stephanie McMahon has announced a new role for herself for that special night.
Speaking to Megan Morant ahead of WWE ‘Survivor Series’, McMahon confirmed that she will be serving as a co-host for the event. She will be sharing the role alongside broadcaster Joe Tessitore.
McMahon revealed: “I’m actually co-hosting with Joe Tessitore. I’m going to have to reign those emotions in a little bit”.
John Cena’s final match is scheduled to take place on the December 13, 2025, edition of ‘Saturday Night’s Main Event’, which is set to be held in Washington, D.C. His opponent has not yet been determined, though it will be one of the tournament’s four remaining semi-finalists. The semi-finalists are GUNTHER, Solo Sikoa, LA Knight, and Jey Uso. These four stars are set to face off on the December 1 episode of Raw to determine who advances to the finals.

The Intercontinental Championship, which Cena recently won from Dominik Mysterio, will be on the line in the final match. The semi-finals will feature GUNTHER vs. Solo Sikoa and LA Knight vs. Jey Uso.

The winners of those bouts will advance to the final round of the tournament, which will take place on the December 8 edition of Raw, setting up the championship matchup for ‘Saturday Night’s Main Event’.
While many are celebrating Cena’s farewell, his former rival, David Otunga, shared his thoughts on the ongoing retirement tour with Ariel Helwani on The Ariel Helwani Show.
Otunga expressed disappointment that the final run was not generating more excitement. Cena and Otunga were once rivals during Otunga’s tenure as a member of The Nexus faction.
Regardless of the outside critique, Cena successfully defended his Intercontinental Championship against Dominik Mysterio at ‘Survivor Series’. Cena lost the title to Mysterio at the show.
