One demotion was anything but surprising while another Pittsburgh Penguins transaction seemed far too soon.
The Penguins returned Danton Heinen to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguin Sunday, but they also returned rookie center, Tristan Broz.
Broz, 23, made his NHL debut Wednesday, playing just one NHL game before being scratched in the last two. Broz did not register his first NHL point. He was the Penguins 2021 second round pick and their first selection in the draft (58th overall).
Heinen was among the AHL‘s leading scorers at the time of his recall. The forward began his latest tenure with the team playing center, but quickly moved to wing and rookie Ben Kindel returned to the middle of the third line.
Heinen had just one assist in nine NHL games, but had 14 points including five goals in 10 AHL games with the WBS Penguins.
Broz had eight goals in his first 18 games in the AHL before his call up, and a total of 13 points.
