The Steelers’ Week 13 showdown with the Bills took on an entirely different look during the first seven minutes of the second half.
Leading 7-3 at halftime, Pittsburgh immediately squandered the lead when Christian Benford scored off of Joey Bosa’s strip-sack of Aaron Rodgers, who was injured on the play. Buffalo quickly added to its lead after Josh Allen hit Keon Coleman for a touchdown. The score was set up by Benford’s interception of Mason Rudolph, who briefly replaced Rodgers, who returned for Pittsburgh’s next drive with the Steelers trailing 16-7.
After a scoreless first quarter, Pittsburgh got on the board with a short Jaylen Warren touchdown run set up by James Cook’s fumble — Buffalo’s second turnover of the half. Allen was intercepted by Brandin Echols on the game’s opening drive, but the Bills’ defense prevented the Steelers from capitalizing.
Buffalo responded to Warren’s score with a 16-play drive that ended in a 27-yard Matt Prater field goal. The Bills initially lined up to go for it on fourth-and-3 from Pittsburgh’s 4-yard line, but a false start forced them to settle for the kick.
The Bills rushed for 125 yards in the first half, with Cook gaining 81 on 17 carries, but Allen was limited to just 51 yards on 6 of 12 passing. Rodgers wasn’t any better. Playing through a fractured left wrist, the Steelers’ QB was 6 of 13 for 54 yards as high winds impacted both passing attacks.
