Nebraska, Creighton selected for 2025 NCAA volleyball tournament
Dominant accomplishments that this team has had so far this year, which one of them are you the most proud of? Mm, um, Man, there, there are *** lot. I do think the um. When you combine both our wins against Penn State and that we did like we played great twice, home and away, um. I think that was *** pretty pretty big statement, so I think that ranks up there for me. That’s *** great question. I haven’t thought about that yet. I think Andy finished hitting 560 for the Big 10 season, not just that but the whole Big 10 schedule. I mean, how, how impressive about to do that over the long haul of the 20 matches, and I think set *** new record for that too. What does she do so well that allows her to hit it that way? Yeah, you know, um, I think her and Bergen are in *** really great rhythm and Andy takes care of like average sets. She makes them look better, she’s so fast off the ground and obviously her athleticism helps out quite *** bit um. But I think she, she just has the right motivation. It’s not about herself or the number or the record, it’s really about the team and. You know what can I do to help us accomplish our goals and I’ve never doubt that for one second with her and that’s really allowed her to just play free and she really knows what she’s playing for this year. Were you able to put it into perspective how difficult it is to keep the same level of focus for an entire regular season to to go on the. Yeah, I think it’s super difficult, you know, and. Especially with the amount of competition in our gym, you know, and you think that can. You, you know, create some pressure and some doubt, um. So I think that the team handled it so well and the leadership was great. And your whole group of upper classmen, not just the seniors, not just that junior class, the group of them, you know, really took charge of the leadership in different ways, and it wasn’t always the captains. It wasn’t always, um, the juniors. It was just really *** group effort by them to make sure we stay focused and, uh, the, the right goal in mind. You’ve done that twice now. What’s how is this be different this time around? Um, well, yeah, yeah, different schools, different conferences. They they actually feel somewhat similar that the team just play so so close and free and enjoying every moment and really playing because we love volleyball and I think that really sticks out and that makes every day fun and you know we have people still coming in early for reps staying after for reps like they they can’t get out of the gym and I think that’s *** good sign of. You know their mindset and that they’re constantly wanting more and can we do more even though we’re this far into the season so they understand like one point better um could make *** big difference but. Yeah, I think it’s when, when you have *** team that can accomplish that kind of goal, I think they have *** lot of the same traits and so in my experience, the two teams that have went undefeated my career have similar similar traits. It’s out there in the third set. Yeah, that was awesome, you know, to see Skyler go back there and serve and go on *** 4 point run. I was just telling her probably last week she’s the 2nd most improved server on the team. And it was great. That’s *** high pressure moment and we’re thinking, OK, this is kind of *** tough situation where out of subs really, uh, we don’t obviously wanna lose the set to Ohio State to finish it off, and she nailed those serves too so we’re really proud of her response there and. In that group to Macy made that great play on the set or dump, so just really good places to finish that set the team responded when May went on her big runs early in the match. How did the team respond? I, I mean they’re, they’re fired up and I told Macy if she’s gonna play bro she had to go for it tonight on her serve. No more just serving to zone 6, and I think she only had one serve to zone 6, so she did an excellent job in multiple runs tonight. It was just *** ***. This is *** perfect storm, you know, uh. At night we could do it, felt like she’d earned it. She plays great practice every time she’s come in *** match this year, I think she’s passed great, so. It was again the the timing was right and I think when you can reward somebody who’s always, always, always put the team first and actually give them *** moment as *** coach, you should do it and. Um, it, it was pretty special to see her, see her play Labaro, and no, honestly we had lived in the Libero jersey too just in case things didn’t go well and. And there was never even *** moment where it’s like, oh, we should think about putting live in and Macy just killed it, played great. Ryan Hunter. Danny the fact that you guys have finished the show over the last 30s, you know, saying the same type of stuff all season just they’ve been really consistent with their mindset going into practice every day. They’ve been super competitive, you know, they find ways to compete, which has allowed us to continue to get improve improve when we’re already playing at *** high level. So I think they’re really ready, ready for the tournament, and now it’s *** new season, you know, everybody’s. You know, uh 00 wins, 0 losses, so you know, we’re gonna try to. Be the first and the best 6 wins as *** coach, now *** head coach in the head coaching position here? Not really I think all senior nights are pretty, pretty special and um. It’s really special to do it at Nebraska. I just think the fans and the amount of people that stay and celebrate and people aren’t rushing out of their seats, so I think that’s what makes it even more special in Nebraska. The Huskers and the Bluejays are returning to the NCAA Tournament.Nebraska was selected as No. 1 Overall seed, and they are slated to face Long Island University in the first round matchup. Nebraska finished 30-0 overall and 20-0 in the Big Ten, marking the first perfect season since 2000.The first round will be at the Devany Center on Dec. 5 at 7 p.m.Creighton earned the No. 3 seed and will face Northern Colorado in the first round of tournament play.The Bluejays (25-5, 16-0 Big East) are back in the tournament for their 14th consecutive time after clinching the Big East title. The first round will be at the D.J.
