Two people were detained Monday morning outside of Walmart in Warrenton, said Natalie Lerner, spokesperson for the Portland Immigrant Rights Coalition.

The detainments took place just before 11 a.m., and according to Warrenton Mayor Henry Balensifer, local law enforcement was not notified by federal authorities prior to the action.

“Our police department is trying to confirm (what has) been stated (online),” said Balensifer. “I don’t know if they (those detained) were Warrenton residents.”

Balensifer said police have been unable to confirm online reports that a car window, allegedly from one of the detainees, was shattered.

According to Lerner, PIRC has been in touch with the local Latinx organization Consejo Hispano, and they have been able to refer the individuals to rapid response legal support.

The Astorian reached out to the Warrenton Police Department for comment, but did not hear back by press time.
