The Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE) participated in the 18th Plenary Session of the OECD’s Global Forum on Tax Transparency and Exchange of Information for Tax Purposes, held in New Delhi, India.
AADE Governor Giorgos Pitsilis presented Greece’s progress in implementing the information exchange standards.
He also highlighted that Greece had been an early adopter of the common information exchange standard, conducting data exchanges since 2017.
Pitsilis noted that Greece now has more than 80 bilateral data exchange relationships, contributing to the deepening of international cooperation.
He also stressed that automatic information exchange has led to a significant increase in audits, risk analysis, and the detection of undeclared income, thereby enhancing tax compliance.
Responding to a question, Pitsilis outlined the Greek experience in pioneering cooperation with international digital short-term rental platforms, even before a European or global framework was established, and stressed that the Greek example shows how national initiatives can be a model and a lever for shaping global cooperation and best practices.
