James Franklin just signed his first recruiting class as Virginia Tech’s head coach, and if Wednesday is any indication, Hokies fans have a lot to look forward to when it comes to future signing classes.
Tech had the No. 124 recruiting class in the country when Franklin came aboard. I knew he would make an impact. I knew he would flip PSU guys. But I didn’t know he would make this big of an impact and flip this many PSU guys. I thought a top-50 class was very doable, and a top-40 class would have been exceptional. Instead, we got better than that:
• 247Sports Composite: No. 23
• Rivals Industry: No. 25
If top 40 would have been exceptional, what about top 25? I don’t think I have a word for that one. He exceeded my expectations in every way, shape and form.
