WE RUSHED A CREW RIGHT TO THE SCENE, FIRST RESPONDERS TELLING US MULTIPLE PEOPLE HAVE BEEN TRAPPED. ALL OF THIS HAPPENING ON VALLEY FORGE DRIVE IN MIAMI TOWNSHIP IN CLERMONT COUNTY. WE JUST LEARNED FROM THE MIAMI TOWNSHIP FIRE CHIEF THAT THREE PEOPLE WERE TRAPPED INSIDE OF THIS TRENCH COLLAPSE, AND THEY ARE STILL TRAPPED RIGHT NOW. CREWS ARE ACTIVELY WORKING TO GET THEM OUT. WE KNOW THAT TWO PEOPLE ARE CONSCIOUS. ONE PERSON IS UNCONSCIOUS. WHEN THEY WERE DISCOVERED, ONE PERSON WAS COMPLETELY COVERED IN THIS TRENCH COLLAPSE. TWO WERE COVERED FROM THEIR WAIST DOWN. AND WE DO KNOW THAT ONE IS UNCONSCIOUS, BUT WE DO NOT KNOW THE EXTENT OF THEIR INJURIES AT THIS POINT. IF YOU TAKE A LOOK, URBAN SEARCH AND RESCUE IS HERE. IT LOOKS LIKE A BIG TRUCK FROM THEM JUST ARRIVED. OFFICIALS GOT THE CALL AROUND 3:00 OR SORRY, 349. AND THEY SAY THE FIREFIGHTERS HAD TO WAIT FOR URBAN SEARCH AND RESCUE TO ARRIVE BECAUSE THE CONDITIONS ARE VERY DANGEROUS FOR THEM TO OPERATE A RESCUE LIKE THIS. SO THEY JUST PUT SOME PANELS IN PLACE IN ORDER TO PREVENT A SECOND COLLAPSE. AND NOW THEY ARE WORKING TO DIG THOSE PEOPLE OUT. SO AGAIN, AT THIS TIME, WE DON’T KNOW THE EXTENT OF THE PEOPLE’S INJURIES, BUT WE DO KNOW THREE PEOPLE WHO WERE WORKING ON A PROJECT OUT HERE ARE STUCK IN THIS TRENCH COLLAPSE. One person has died after a trench collapse left three people trapped in Miami Township on Friday evening.According to Miami Township fire chief Dave Jetter, the call for the collapse came in around 3:49 p.m. on Valley Forge Drive.Jetter said three people were trapped inside the trench. One of the people inside has died, while the two others are stable and talking with rescue crews.Paramedics are working to administer care to the people trapped, while the Urban Search and Rescue Team works to get the victims out of the trench. Crews are using trench panels to prevent the side walls from collapsing during the rescue operation, though another partial collapse was reported around 6:15 p.m. Officials said the two surviving victims remain stable.The fire chief said the three victims were working to install a pipe inside the trench when it collapsed.There is not an exact timetable for when crews will be able to rescue the victims.
