Johns, who has served Oklahoma County for three decades, was injured in the same incident that claimed the life of Sergeant Bobby Swartz.

Curtis Back said he has known Johns for about 55 years and worked alongside him at the sheriff’s office.

“I just hope he gets on the recovery path because he has a lot of years ahead of him… I love you man,” Back said.
