Garmin has returned to its Instinct 3 series smartwatches with another new update. Arriving in the wake of an equivalent update for the Instinct 2 series, the new firmware marks a return to beta testing after last month’s flurry of beta updates.
Unfortunately, Garmin has not moved the Instinct E, Instinct 3 or Instinct Crossover AMOLED (curr. $649 on Amazon) onto a major new release cycle. Instead, the company has reverted its Beta Program with another v12.xx build. Specifically, Garmin has pushed out Beta Version 12.23, which it claims resolves two issues found in System Software 12.21.
On the one hand, the new update should fix an issue that could prevent Instinct E, Instinct 3 or Instinct Crossover AMOLED owners from adding apps in Garmin Connect Mobile. On the other hand, Beta Version 12.23 addresses a bug that prevented courses and workouts from being downloaded on CIQ apps. The latter are only available for the Instinct E and Solar models. Please see Garmin’s forum post for more details.
