Former Real Housewives of New Jersey cast member Siggy Flicker praised Alina Habba, a former lawyer for President Donald Trump, for being a fighter for the country, the day after Habba resigned as acting U.S. Attorney for New Jersey.

The Context

Habba resigned from her position after a judge disqualified her on the grounds that Trump didn’t have the ability to put her in the role to begin with. Trump withdrew Habba’s nomination for the permanent post at the end of July after the Senate failed to move forward with a vote. She’s the fourth attorney appointed to be found to be serving unlawfully.

What to Know

On Tuesday, Flicker was sworn in as a member of the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum board. Flicker called it the “honor of a lifetime” in a post on Instagram and thanked Habba, who attended the ceremony.

“This country is well worth the FIGHT!!!!” Flicker posted on Instagram along with a photo of her and Habba. “Surround yourself with FIGHTERS who will never give in to the evil trying to destroy this country!”

Flicker posted a second photo of a group of women, including Habba, and wrote that she was grateful for the “love and support from amazing friends.”

Newsweek reached out to Flicker via email for comment but did not receive a response in time for publication.

Habba posted a photo of Flicker at the ceremony to her Instagram story with a message of congratulations. Months earlier, Habba posted a photo with a group of women, including Flicker, and captioned it, “Google friend goals… this is it.” Habba also previously congratulated Flicker on her appointment to the board, calling her a “tireless advocate.”

In announcing her resignation, Habba said her compliance with the court’s ruling should not be mistaken for “surrender.” She added that her leaving that position wouldn’t weaken the Justice Department and that she was staying on as an advisor to Attorney General Pam Bondi.

What They’re Saying

Bondi on X: “These judges should not be able to countermand the President’s choice of attorneys entrusted with carrying out the executive branch’s core responsibility of prosecuting crime.”

Habba, in a statement posted on X: “What these obstructionists misunderstood is that my loyalty is not to politics, a title, or a ZIP code. It is to this great country.”

Michael Fisher, an appointee of former President George W. Bush, wrote in the opinion: “As it stands, Habba alone is exercising all the powers of a U.S. Attorney, making her an Acting U.S. Attorney whose appointment is not FVRA compliant.”

What Happens Next

It’s unclear exactly what Habba will do beyond being an advisor to Bondi, but as a steadfastly loyal supporter of Trump, she’s likely to continue to be involved in his administration.
