Another week, another mailbag! Christmas is on the way and hopefully mailbag being back is a nice gift for you all. This week, I was bombarded with Tangled and live-action remake questions, so hopefully I was able to make all of you happy. Let’s get into it!

Do you have an update on the Rapunzel search for Tangled?

I do, I have heard that Zombies 4 actress Freya Skye is amongst the actresses being considered for the role and Disney does like her. That said, McKenna Grace is still the favorite amongst insiders.

Is Scarlett Johansson still attached to Tangled to play Mother Gothel?

She never signed on, she was only in talks, but Tangled is expected to start filming June 2026 in Spain. Johansson’s 2026 filming schedule is already packed with The Batman II, The Excorcist, and Jurassic World. As of today, she is not attached and I expect her to pass on the role due to her schedule.

Any casting rumors for Flynn Ryder?

The studio is currently testing actresses for the role of Rapunzel, a shortlist for Flynn has yet to be put together but a name to keep an eye on would be Mason Thames (Black Phone, How to Train Your Dragon) as Disney has their eyes on him .

Are there any updates on the new Pirates movie/movies? I feel like they have been in development for forever.

You’re right and sadly, that is still the case. Ideas are still being put together on the next film in the franchise.

How likely is The Little Mermaid 2?

There will never be a sequel or spinoff.

Which Disney movies do you think are gonna make a billion dollars next year?

I think only two movies from Disney will do it Toy Story 5 (Pixar) and Avengers: Doomsday (Marvel). You could make an argument for the live-action Moana but I think that movie really needs a good second trailer to really sell audiences on it.

Do you think Moana live-action will do great?

I personally think it will, is it too soon? Yes but that said Moana as a franchise is a massive hit with the recent sequel grossing a little over a billion at the worldwide box office. It also helps that the live-action Lilo & Stitch was a massive hit at the box office and with audiences this year.

Any updates on Dwayne Johnson’s Monster Jam movie? We haven’t heard anything since it was announced at D23 Expo.

Now, I am not saying this is true, but I believe this movie doesn’t happen at all.

Once Tiana gets her long awaited live action remake which I’m sure is going to go happen at some point, the live action Disney princess lineup will most likely be complete. Do you see Disney making a franchise out of the live-action Disney princesses like they did with the animated princesses? I think it would be cool.

No, there is no way this happens, would it be cool? Sure, but Disney has no intention of confirming that all the live-action remakes exist within the same continuity.

Will the Tron franchise continue?

The franchise will return at some point but is being put to rest for the foreseeable future.

Is Disney really making an animated feature film starring Mickey Mouse in 2028?

Disney has something planned for Mickey in 2028, I just can not confirm what that is (movie, Disney+ special, series)

When can we expect filming and additional casting updates for Lilo and Stitch 2?

It is expected to start filming in Summer 2026, so I’d imagine we get some info on it during Disney’s D23 Expo next year. I have heard whispers that Angel will be introduced, so there’s that for you.

Do you think Hoppers will do great?

It is Pixar so I always have hope it will do great. It has a stacked cast with a talented director. The studio will need to continue with a great marketing campaign but I believe this could become the next new franchise for Pixar.

DanielRPK Announces That Disney Trailer is Coming on Thursday December 11th, Any Trailers from Disney You Like to See This Upcoming Week?

I believe the trailer rumored for the 11th has been delayed but it is very likely it is for Avengers: Doomsday, which a teaser for it was recently rated for in Korea, a sign a teaser is in fact on the way. That said, Mandalorian & Grogru is coming and a full length trailer for that is also coming.

Will there ever be a live-action Tarzan remake at any point?

Could one happen? Of course, but as of now a remake is not being considered or in development at this time.
