The DC K.O. event was expected to kill several popular characters. This is unavoidable in a story centered around a cosmic tournament of battles to the death. However, one DC mainstay just died ahead of their DC Universe premiere in the upcoming Supergirl movie. What made this particularly astounding, however, is that the character in question is supposedly immortal.

DC Kills Off Villain Set to Appear in Supergirl Movie

The surprising death came in DC K.O. Wonder Woman vs. Lobo #1, from Joƫlle Jones, Jason Howard, Cary Nord, and Daniel Bayliss. This promised to be an interesting conflict on several levels. Unlike most members of the Justice League, Wonder Woman does not have a code against killing, though she is generally inclined to seek peace. Contrastingly, Lobo is ill-inclined to seek out non-violent solutions in his work as a bounty hunter.

Lobo won the first round, while Diana rallied to score victory in the second. However, the Amazing Amazon faced an impossible challenge in the final battle. While she had power enough to slay Lobo, the Last of the Czarnians literally could not stay dead.

Beyond his healing factor, which enables him to regrow his body from a single intact cell, Lobo also has a contract with The Almighty Gawd. In 1994’s Lobo’s Back, where Lobo died, went to Hell, took over, and declared war on Heaven, Lobo was banned from the afterlife for all eternity.

How does DC kill off the immortal Lobo?

Usually, when Wonder Woman gets divine intervention, it comes from the hands of the Olympian deities. In this case, however, The Almighty himself decided to intervene on her behalf. This came after Lobo boasted of how he ā€œmade a deal with the damn Almighty.ā€

Taking of His holy name in vain was enough to inspire The Almighty to direct action. He ordered Lobo’s contact shredded. This enabled Wonder Woman to kill the Main Man and keep him down. However, it still seems likely Lobo will return to comics in time for the 2026 Supergirl movie.
