Ruben Amorim could reportedly have to turn to one Manchester United summer signing for a potential short-term fix after the latest transfer dilemma for the club.
The 40-year-old Manchester United manager has been able to strengthen key parts of his first-team Red Devils squad after the arrival of new players this summer.
United snapped up Matheus Cunha from Wolves in June after the 26-year-old Brazil international’s £62.5m release clause was triggered at the Premier League club.
Following on from Matheus Cunha’s arrival at Old Trafford last month, United announced the signing of Diego Leon from Paraguayan side Cerro Porteno in July.
Bryan Mbeumo then became United’s third summer signing after the Red Devils’ drawn-out transfer pursuit of the former Brentford ace finally came to an end.
United landed Bryan Mbeumo for an initial transfer fee of £65m, with the Red Devils including a further £6m in add-ons in the deal for the 25-year-old Brentford winger.

Manchester United have been tipped to sign a new striker and a new midfielder this summer alongside the arrivals of Matheus Cunha, Diego Leon and Bryan Mbeumo.
However, ESPN has now reported that Ruben Amorim could be forced to wait for a new striker and United could finally land a target after the new season has started.
According to the publication, it is believed that there are no assurances that the Red Devils have a new striking option in place before deadline day in September.
United have been linked with several strikers this summer, including the likes of Viktor Gyokeres, Victor Osimhen, Liam Delap, Dusan Vlahovic and Ollie Watkins.
But ESPN added that United are still exploring ‘potential targets’ this summer and there have been ‘ongoing’ talks with both ‘agents and intermediaries.’
United’s pursuit of a striker would also mean that there is ‘also an acceptance’ that the Red Devils would need to offload players from the first team for a new signing.
Bryan Mbeumo could now offer something else to Man Utd manager Ruben Amorim for the 2025-26 Premier League season
Amorim was left frustrated at the Red Devils’ toothless finishing in the final third last season and the struggles of Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee as the lone striker.
Rasmus Hojlund has been linked with Inter Milan and other Serie A clubs this summer after the Danish forward’s disappointing second season at Old Trafford.
Joshua Zirkzee, much like United teammate Hojlund, has attracted interest from clubs in Italy after the Dutch striker failed to impress in his debut season at the club.
According to ESPN, a ‘potential solution’ for Amorim not having a new striker in place would be turning to summer signing Mbeumo for the role in the 2025-26 season.
Mbeumo has been tipped to play as the right-sided No 10 in Amorim’s tactical system at United, but the ex-Bees ace could instead be played as a ‘central striker.’
