Watt had previously been ruled out after undergoing surgery for a partially collapsed lung following a dry-needling treatment on Wednesday. His status for Week 16 against the Detroit Lions is unknown.
Harmon missed the first two practices with a knee injury suffered during Week 12’s game against the Chicago Bears. He was able to log a limited practice on Saturday, but with just one limited practice, the team is being cautious but leaving the door open for him to potentially play. In the four games Harmon has already missed, Pittsburgh’s allowing over 191 yards per game.
Peat will miss the game due to a concussion suffered in the third quarter of the Steelers’ win over the Baltimore Ravens. Calvin Anderson was placed on injured reserve due to a knee injury, meaning Dylan Cook will make his first start. Though on Pittsburgh’s roster for several years, it took until last weekend for Cook to make his debut. He logged 13 snaps. Now, he’s set to play wire-to-wire against Miami. The swing tackle role is uncertain, though Jack Driscoll could be elevated from the practice squad as depth. Spencer Anderson is also capable of playing tackle.
Despite their injuries, Heyward, Benton, and Black will play. Pittsburgh will need to count on all of them to offer quality snaps against top RB De’Von Achane, who has rushed for at least 90 yards in each of his last four starts.
Washington and Harrison will play after suffering concussions against Baltimore. Both are important pieces of Pittsburgh winning in the trenches. Washington as arguably the best blocking tight end in football and Harrison as a thumper to stop the run. Harrison seemed to have clear protocol with a full practice today, while Washington remained limited and was listed as questionable. He may have another step to clear in the process, but the door is still open to him to play on Monday.
Dugger will return after missing Week 14 due to a cut on his hand suffered during practice prior to the Ravens’ game. He should slide back into the full-time strong safety role he previously occupied, replacing the committee of Jabrill Peppers and Chuck Clark who filled in last Sunday.
Pittsburgh and Miami kicks off Monday at 8:15 PM/EST.
