Troy Aikman seems to have been inspired by Philip Rivers‘ decision to return to play at age 44. On Thursday, Aikman posted a video of himself working out and included a playful message for teams looking for a quarterback.

“Saw this core exercise and had to give it a try. Just in case any other teams are looking for a retired QB.”

Rivers last played in the NFL in 2021. He was signed by the Colts to their practice squad after the team was struck by a series of injuries. Daniel Jones is out for the season after suffering an Achilles injury, while Anthony Richardson is recovering from a broken orbital bone.

During his media availability on Wednesday, Rivers commented on how his children would react to his return to the field:

“I think my younger children are excited because they don’t remember dad playing. My older girls are really excited. Now all of a sudden they’re grown adults and married and they remember being 16 years old going to the ballgames.”

Troy Aikman thinks Cowboys are better than Eagles entering Week 15

Troy Aikman, who played his entire career with the Dallas Cowboys, has hope for the franchise after a mini-resurgence.

After a 3-5-1 start, the Cowboys went on a three-game win streak after the bye, including a comeback from 21-0 down against the Philadelphia Eagles and a 31-28 decision against the Kansas City Chiefs. It marked the first time both teams in the previous season’s Super Bowl had lost to the same team within a week.

Their momentum, however, ended with a 44-30 loss at the Detroit Lions in Week 14. Nevertheless, Aikman thinks they are still better than the Eagles. On Sportsradio 96.7/FM 1310 The Ticket’s “The Musers”, he said:

“I really don’t think it’s close, quite honestly. As far as how they are playing relative to [the Eagles]. And not just the way they’re playing, but also the vibe or the energy you get from the team relative to what’s happening in Philadelphia.”

Nevertheless, he was not getting carried away by the Cowboys’ recent resurgence:

“Anything can happen. But right now, as you know, it’s a long shot for Dallas to get in.”

The Cowboys will look to rebound against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday. Kickoff is at 7:20 pm CT on NBC.
