In a campuswide email from Campus Communications on Dec. 15, Fresno State President Saúl Jiménez-Sandoval addressed reports of antisemitic vandalism on campus.

According to the email, Fresno State has received three reports of antisemitic campus property defacement. Details, however, are limited due to the ongoing investigation.

“I want to tell you that these serious incidents are being addressed collectively, not as isolated reports, because they occurred within a short timeframe and reflect related acts of hate-based vandalism,” Jiménez-Sandoval said.

Jiménez-Sandoval said multiple facets of the Multi-Disciplinary Team were convened when the reports were received, and the graffiti was removed immediately.

He also addressed the recent shootings that occurred, both the shooting at Brown University and in Australia on the first day of Hanukkah, which was named a terrorist attack on the Jewish community.

“We grieve alongside them, and repudiate such senseless acts of violence; we further recognize how acts of hate and violence, near or far, can reverberate within our own community,” Jiménez-Sandoval said.

Jiménez-Sandoval declared that hate and violence have no place on campus and urged community members to reach out if they observe concerning behavior.
