Manchester United’s striker pursuit could drag on late into the window, with Ruben Amorim potentially heading into the season without a new centre-forward.
Bryan Mbeumo finally joined Manchester United earlier this week, completing his protracted move from Brentford.
The Cameroonian forward provides a proven Premier League goal threat and will likely feature as a number 10 under Ruben Amorim.
Mbeumo can also play as a striker, and that may well be required as the new Premier League season draws closer.
The Daily Mail report that United are now preparing to start the season without signing a new striker.
United need to sell players before bringing in further signings, but one striker is certainly on the Old Trafford radar.

United have held a long-standing interest in signing Benjamin Sesko.
Sesko actually snubbed United in 2022, teeing up a move to join RB Leipzig from sister club Red Bull Salzburg.
United even approached Sesko last year, but he decided to stay with RB Leipzig for at least another year.
Christopher Vivell is now interested in Sesko once again, having previously been involved in his moves to Red Bull Salzburg and RB Leipzig.
Arsenal are out of the mix as they close in on Viktor Gyokeres, with Sesko now emerging as a key United target.
Fabrizio Romano now claims that Sesko can leave RB Leipzig thanks to a gentleman’s agreement with the club.
Romano claims that Sesko can leave for around €70million to €80million (£61million to £70million), with another €5million to €10million (£4.35million to £8.7million).
Crucially, though, it’s suggested that these terms are only applicable to clubs Sesko considers ‘special’, which may hint at a list of clubs being agreed when Sesko chose to stay a year ago.
It’s unclear whether United fall into that ‘special’ category, but Vivell will certainly be trying to find out whether a move to Old Trafford is possible.
🚨🇸🇮 There’s gentlemen agreement between Benjamin Šeško and RB Leipzig.
The price tag for limited clubs could be reduced to range of €70-80m plus €5-10m add-ons.
This is only valid for few clubs considered “special” by Šeško.

Newcastle United move for Benjamin Sesko
There is even a chance that we see Sesko in action against United this season.
Newcastle could lose star striker Alexander Isak, with Liverpool now plotting a potential English transfer record swoop.
The Magpies need to line up replacements for the Swede, and Sesko is one of them.
The Athletic’s David Ornstein reports that Newcastle are already exploring a move to sign Sesko.

Ornstein adds that the deal is ‘challenging’ financially, though selling Isak in a nine-figure move would surely help.
United will be paying close attention and will hold out some hope of bringing Sesko to Old Trafford later in the window.
