Destiny 2

The Dawning is upon us again in Destiny 2, an event that is separate from the Star Wars-themed Renegades expansion, though no doubt you can earn prizes by playing that.

Event weapons are sometimes hit or miss, as at times, it feels like Bungie may make a few underperform on purpose as free additions, but that said, there are a number of good ones and fan favorites. There are a surprising three new weapons added for 2025’s The Dawning, though no blasters, sorry. If you want to know what to go for, here are the god rolls for each weapon, though I will also take suggestions, as there are a ton of new perks added in the last year for new combos:

Permafrost – Stasis Wave Frame Grenade Launcher

Rimestealer/Crystalline Corpsebloom – Some great Stasis synergy here with the new larger crystal spawn perk on Corpsebloom for rapid kills. Rapid kills you can often get with a wave frame grenade launcher. Then, a second shot could shatter them and get you immediate frost armor.Demolitionist or Overflow/Reaper’s Tithe – Reaper’s gives you a stacking damage buff after “multiple simultaneous final blows.” That starts on the next shot, and both of those first column perks would allow for two quick shots without reloading.

Fimbulwinter Stitch – Arc Precision Sidearm

Supercharged Magazine or Trickle Charge/Jolting Feedback – Both of those first column perks are about feeding reserve ammo, with Supercharged one of the better new perks added in this update. Feeding into Jolting Feedback for lots of Jolt generation works well with that.Trickle Charge/Rolling Storm – Perfect synergy here, one generates Bolt Charge on kill while the other gives more ammo whenever that happens (or Bolt Charge goes off).Rapid Hit/Voltshot – The classic Arc perk is back, and given that you’ll want reload speed help, Rapid Hit can provide. I suppose Loose Change can too, but I think few prefer that.

Mistral Lift – Three-Burst Void Linear Fusion Rifle

Envious Arsenal/Bait and Switch – The obvious combo of reloading ammo combined with a big damage boost after switching and shooting.Reconstruction/Precision Instrument or Rewind Rounds or Bait and Switch – The point being here to get as much ammo in a mag as possible, which would benefit all three of those second column perks in different ways.Withering Gaze/Butterfly – Both perks involve aiming down sights for a moment, which would then activate both a weakening shot and the ability to explode a target in a more impressive way that Firefly or Dragonfly (which it also has).

Those are my picks, I am open to more options, so let me know what they might be on Twitter.
