HUNT VALLEY, Md. (TNND) — The White House shared a hateful depiction of “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” on Friday.
Its X account posted an altered advertisement for the 2000 movie that shows the Grinch holding handcuffs instead of an ornament. Law enforcement is seen arresting someone at the bottom of the poster, and the film’s title is changed to “How the Illegals Stole Healthcare.”
“Cc: Democrats,” the White House captioned the picture.
“Hate, hate, hate. Double hate. Loathe entirely.”
The National News Desk requested comment from Dr. Seuss Enterprises, which oversees the author’s works, and Universal Pictures, one of the studios behind the movie, but neither company has responded. Imagine Entertainment, another studio, was unable to be reached.
The Trump administration has claimed that Democratic lawmakers want to give free healthcare to immigrants who are in the country illegally, although top members of the party have denied that idea. President Donald Trump shared a fake video on social media before the government shutdown that depicts House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer saying they could win the immigrants’ votes by giving them free healthcare, but both Democrats rejected the post.
“If we give all these illegal aliens free healthcare, we might be able to get ‘em on our side so they can vote for us. They can’t even speak English, so they won’t realize we’re just a bunch of woke pieces of sh*t, you know?” Schumer is depicted saying. “At least for a while, until they learn English and they realize they hate us too.”
Schumer and Jeffries said in a joint statement days later that Trump had become more “erratic and unhinged” as the shutdown began.
“Instead of negotiating a bipartisan agreement in good faith, he is obsessively posting crazed deepfake videos,” the lawmakers said.
Open the Books, a government watchdog, said in an October report that immigrants who were in the U.S. illegally had received nearly $200 million for healthcare in recent years, but The National News Desk couldn’t confirm. The organization said it estimated the amount by reviewing grants for healthcare supply and outreach.
Federal law prohibits many noncitizens from receiving coverage through government programs, including the marketplace established by the Affordable Care Act, but uninsured immigrants may rely on hospitals that receive grants and treat people regardless of whether they can pay.
