Bobcat seen at Upper Peninsula prison on Dec. 16, 2025
A bobcat was spotted hanging out at a prison in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula on Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2025. (WDIV)
A Michigan prison had a “special visitor” on Tuesday morning.
According to the Michigan Department of Corrections (MDOC), staff at the Chippewa Correctional Facility saw a bobcat in the morning on Tuesday, Dec. 16.
This facility is located on the eastern side of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.
Staff members said the bobcat jumped out from the wire, ran around the perimeter of the facility and climbed up a tree.
They said the bobcat hung out for about an hour.
After that, he jumped down and ran around the parking lot, where MDOC and Michigan Department of Natural Resources staff were able to corral him off of the facility’s grounds.
