INDEPENDENCE, Mo. (KCTV) – After a water service disruption caused schools, courthouses and other businesses to close on Monday, the City of Independence says water pressure is back.
According to a release sent early Tuesday, power was restored to a transformer at the Courtney Bend Water Treatment Plant around 7 p.m. the night prior. Water started pumping hours later and ran steadily throughout the night.
Independence is no longer using KC Water, and it is working to refill its reservoirs.
Although pressure is back, a boil advisory remains in place. The City said it collected 16 water samples from across the city, but the results are pending.
Closures / Delays
The Independence School District is set to return to classes Tuesday, as is the Oak Grove School District.
The Truman Library is typically open 9 a.m.- 5 p.m. Monday Through Friday, but will open two hours late at 11 a.m. to allow its water pressure to return to normal.
