EXCLUSIVE: As Warner Bros. Discovery’s cable networks come under the microscope with the various corporate machinations surrounding its parent company’s sale, two senior content execs have been promoted.

Joseph Boyle has been named Head of Content, Discovery Channel and Alon Orstein has been upped to Head of Content, TLC. Boyle and Orstein were both previously SVPs, Production and Development for their respective networks.

It comes a year after Howard Lee, to whom the pair report, was promoted to Chief Creative Officer of U.S. Networks. Lee was previously Head of Content for TLC and Discovery.

The pair will both oversee content development and production for their networks, allowing Lee to focus on the cable group’s overall programming strategy.

Boyle has been at Discovery since 2013 and is responsible for series including Deadliest Catch and Naked and Afraid. Before Discovery, he was a showrunner.

Orstein joined TLC in 2011 and has worked on titles including the 90 Day Fiancé franchise, Sister Wives, Baylen Out Loud, Say Yes to the Dress, Cake Boss, and I Am Jazz. Before TLC, he was an executive producer for Discovery Health and Planet Green and a director of programming at PBS.

“Joseph Boyle and Alon Orstein exemplify the passionate storytelling, creative vision, and strategic leadership that drives the success of Discovery Channel and TLC,” said Lee. “Their new roles reflect not only their outstanding contributions to our programming, but also our confidence in their ability to shape the future of our business.”
