Dec. 18 (UPI) — Animal services officers came to the rescue of two reindeer that escaped from a transport trailer and went running loose on the 5 Freeway in Los Angeles County.
LA Animal Services said the two animals, named Cookie and Noel, escaped from their trailer Saturday on the 5 Freeway, near the 118 Freeway in the San Fernando area.
The reindeer were rounded up by animal services officers with help from California Department of Transportation personnel and a member of the public.
“Both were transported to our West Valley Animal Center for examination and care, and afterwards, were released and reunited with their owner,” LA Animal Services said on social media.
The post thanked rescuers for “ensuring these reindeer are ready for their important upcoming Christmas duties.”
