HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Firefighters responded to a fatal fire at an apartment complex on Braesridge Drive near West Bellfort Avenue in southwest Houston on Friday, according to the Houston Fire Department.

Officials said that a woman was found dead in one of the burned buildings.

According to Deputy Chief Bryan Sky-Eagle, firefighters believe the fire started on the third floor of the complex. Sky-Eagle also said that a hydrant located inside the complex helped firefighters establish water quickly.

SkyEye was overhead as flames engulfed sections of the apartment complex in southwest Houston.

There were initial reports of multiple people missing, Sky-Eagle said, but he added that they were able to locate the tenants.

According to authorities, between 20 and 30 apartment units were initially impacted across 3 buildings in the complex.
