As Boulder County creeps into its fourth day of widespread power outages from raging winds, there are multiple options throughout Boulder County for people without power to charge their devices or electric vehicles.
The East Boulder Community Center, 5660 Sioux Drive, has the only open charging station in the city proper, but community charging services ended at 4 p.m. The community center is open until 9 p.m. The center offers Wi-Fi and a play area for children, though it has no charging spaces for EVs.
As of Friday, there were five other charging stations in the county. It is unclear if charging station hours sync up with regular business hours:
• The Louisville Public Library, 951 Spruce St., will be open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. It has a play area for children, Wi-Fi and two EV charging spaces.
• The Louisville Recreation and Senior Center, 900 Via Appia Way, is open until 9 p.m. Friday, and from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. It also has a play area for children, Wi-Fi and two EV charging spaces.
• The Superior Civic Space, 2250 Main St., Suite 1001, is open until 8 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. The building has a play area for children, Wi-Fi and 10 EV charging spaces.
• The Superior Community Center, 1500 Coalton Road, is open until 8 p.m. Friday, and from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday. It has a play area for children, Wi-Fi and two EV charging spaces.
• The Nederland Community Center, 750 Colo. 72, is open until 7 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. It has a play area for children and Wi-FI, though it has no EV charging spaces.
Up-to-date information can be found on Boulder’s disaster management website.
Boulder spokesperson Sarah Huntley said on Friday that Boulder is not offering shelter for residents without power “at this point.”
The extent of the damage in Boulder from this week’s winds is unclear.
“At this point, we are still in an active life-safety response status. Damage assessment will follow,” Huntley wrote in a statement to the Daily Camera.
