130 schoolchildren and staff abducted in Nigeria last month have been released, police say
Some 130 schoolchildren and staff abducted last month from a Catholic school in Nigeria have been released, police said on Sunday.
Gunmen had stormed St. Mary’s Catholic School in the Papiri community of north-central Niger state on November 21, abducting at least 303 students and 12 teachers. About 50 students managed to escape in the hours following the attack, while another 100 schoolchildren were freed earlier this month.
Niger State police spokesperson Wasiu Abiodun said in a statement that “the remaining batch of the abducted students” has now been released, as cited by AP.
