CLEVELAND, Ohio — Another day, another relief pitcher for the Guardians.

The Guardians announced Monday the signing of right-hander Codi Heuer to a minor league deal with an invitation to spring training. Heuer, 29, spent last season with Texas and and Detroit, making two big-league appearances for the Tigers and one for the Rangers.

He spent the rest of the year at Triple-A for both teams, posting a 3.14 ERA in 44 games. Heuer was the sixth-round pick of the White Sox in the 2018 out of Wichita State.

Heuer has pitched in the big leagues for the White Sox, Cubs, Texas and Detroit. In 89 games, all out of the bullpen, he’s 10-4 with a 3.67 ERA with three saves. He’s struck out 86 and walked 34 in 95 2/3 innings.

He combined to make 61 relief appearances for the White Sox in 2020 and 2021, while posting a 3.74 ERA. He missed the 2022 and 2024 seasons because of two surgeries on his right elbow.

The Guardians have added relievers Shawn Armstrong, Colin Holderman, Connor Brogdon, Rule 5 pick Peyton Pallette and Heuer in December. The first four pitchers in that group are on the 40-man roster.
