Boulder County is under a red flag warning on Monday for elevations under 9,000 feet as the National Weather Service is warning of critical fire weather.

The warning is in effect from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, according to NWS. The warnings come only three days after a three-day windstorm that brought 100-plus mph winds to the county.

Critical fire weather warnings mean unusually high temperatures, low humidity and wind. In both Boulder and Longmont, the forecast high is a record-breaking 72 degrees, according to Accuweather, which is one degree higher than the record for Dec. 22 set in 1933, when it was only 71 degrees.

Open burning and agricultural burning is prohibited across Boulder County on Monday, according to the Boulder County Sheriff’s office.
