MANSFIELD, CT (WFSB) – A bald eagle flew into a powerline in Mansfield on Monday morning, animal rescuers said.
Horizon Wings Raptor Rehabilitation and Education posted to social media that an eyewitness saw the bird of prey hit the line on Route 32.
David Stevens, whom Horizon Wings said is a Connecticut licensed falconer, stepped in to help.
“Thanks to the quick response of the witness and other [passers by], David Stevens was able to contain the bird for transfer to Horizon Wings,” Horizon Wings said.
The bird was immediately transferred to Tufts for evaluation.
“A big thank you to Connecticut State Police Troop C Tolland who also responded to help keep this bird safe,” the facility said. “We will update you on this bird’s condition as soon as we have news.”
