INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Many NASCAR teams will be popping up around Central Indiana the next few days since it is Brickyard Weekend once again.
One of those teams is 23XI Racing, which is getting ready to host a big event on Friday evening.
The event, called 23XI Intersect presented by Verizon, will take place Friday from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. EDT at Bicentennial Plaza, just outside of Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
“23XI has had a knack from day one to be different,” 23XI Racing driver Bubba Wallace told News 8 Sports’ Andrew Chernoff. “And this allows the motorsports fan base and the car culture fan base to kind of merge as one and be in an environment where everybody can grow with each other. And I think that’s super important.”
The event is free and open to the public. Click here to register for the event. Fans who attend Friday’s event will also receive a voucher for a ticket to Sunday’s Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
“With a founding mission of making the sport more inclusive and welcoming, Intersect is set to introduce new fans to 23XI and racing through a completely fresh lens,” according to a press release.
“It’s very cool to try to bring new fans into our sport and engage with long-time fans into a new perspective of what we try to do in the community that we race in,” 23XI Racing driver Riley Herbst said.
DJ Envy, music producer and co-host of “The Breakfast Club,” will headline Friday’s 23XI Intersect.
In addition, the team’s three full-time drivers, Wallace, Herbst and Tyler Reddick, will make appearances.
“Just the conversations that you have are always fun at events like that,” Wallace said.
Here are some additional experiences for fans Friday night at the event:
Guests can virtually experience the thrill of victory burnouts thanks to Xfinity’s Boomin’ Burnout experience
Racing simulators provided by Logitech G
McDonald’s will be on-site with its McRig mobile kitchen for guests to sample menu items
Vehicles will on display
Show cars will be on display to promote the Brickyard 400
“Since our founding five years ago, our team has been committed to growing motorsports and reaching fans wherever they may be,” 23XI VP of Marketing Jamie Ruiz said in the press release. “Intersect is a great opportunity for 23XI to expose a wider audience to our team and racing. Through engaging activations with our partners and exciting performances, we look forward to making new fans and providing a great experience for our avid fans.”
The NASCAR Cup Series drivers hit the track at IMS for the first time Friday afternoon for a practice session.
