OUTH JORDAN — On Saturday night at approximately 5:45 pm a crash in South Jordan area lead multiple people to be transported to the hospital.

Around 2700 W 11400 S a SUV traveling north collided with another vehicle at the intersection. The SUV then continued and hit two utility poles and an electric box, causing a power outage down to 2700 W.

The front passenger of the SUV was ejected from the vehicle. The passenger and driver were transported to the hospital with severe injuries. A 5-month-old child in the back seat was also transported to primary children’s with minor injuries.

The driver of the other vehicle also had minor injures.

Master Officer Shaun Becker said officials are still investigating the exact cause of the crash. Currently the driver of the SUV is being investigated for a DUI. Police believe the driver, adult male, was speeding when he ran a red light at the time of the accident. 

South Jordan Fire & Rocky Mountain Power also responding to the scene and say it will take some time to repair.

Master Officer Shaun Becker says people will need to avoid the area.
