PEORIA (25News Now) – A Peoria man who was on the run for months for allegedly breaking into his ex-girlfriend’s place, beating her, and stealing her gun, will stay in jail until his trial, according to the Peoria County State’s Attorney’s office.
A Peoria County Grand Jury indicted Dent for home invasion on July 8 after an incident just before 4 a.m. on July 7 in the 300 block of North Apple Blossom Boulevard in Bellevue. A warrant for his arrest was issued the same day.
According to the State’s Attorney, the victim, Dent’s ex-girlfriend, told deputies he struck her multiple times, took a firearm from her nightstand, dragged her out of the bedroom, peed into a cup and poured it on her before running away. The victim’s child was in the home while it happened, and video surveillance in the home captured the entire incident.
Dent was arrested on Tuesday in Livingston County on the outstanding warrant. He will remain in custody pending trial. The investigation is ongoing.
