MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — The No. 5 Oregon Ducks are moving on in the College Football Playoff after a dominant performance over No. 4 Texas Tech in the Orange Bowl on Thursday.

The Ducks were slight underdogs heading into the quarterfinal matchup, but their high-octane offense proved too powerful for the Red Raiders. UO’s defense, meanwhile, held Texas Tech to a scoreless four quarters, forcing a handful of turnovers that cemented the Oregon win.

It’s the Ducks’ first playoff victory since 2015, when they defeated Florida State in a semifinal game.

Oregon now advances to play the winner of the Rose Bowl between No. 1 Indiana and No. 9 Alabama in a semifinal at the Peach Bowl on Jan. 9.
