MOSCOW, Idaho –The Moscow Fire Department (MFD) shared a report on Saturday highlighting its annual emergency response statistics, which show that 2025 marked the highest call volume for emergency response in the department’s history.

According to MFD, the call volume has seen a steady increase over the past decade. The total number of incidents prompting a response from the department grew from 2,723 to 2,821 between 2021 and 2023. In 2024, MFD responded to 3,002 incidents which marked a 9% increase in call volume. The department responded to 3,046 incidents in 2025, which was an additional rise in call volume that led to a record-breaking response year in Moscow.

“This increase highlights the growing demand for emergency services in our community,” MFD Fire Chief Brian R. Nickerson said. “Our volunteer and career personnel continue to meet these challenges with professionalism and dedication, ensuring rapid and effective responses while maintaining high service standards every day.”

Chief Nickerson emphasized the need for ongoing investment in staffing, training, equipment, and facilities to meet the rising community demands.
