STERLING, Neb. (News Channel Nebraska) – Johnson County authorities are reporting a crash that happened early Friday morning, one mile west of Sterling.
Johnson County Attorney Ben Beethe says sheriff’s officers received an emergency call about a single-vehicle crash involving a pickup.
The 2005 Dodge Ram was driven by 74-year-old James Young, of rural Adams. He was declared dead at the scene of the mishap. Authorities said he was using a safety restraint at the time of the crash.
The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office and Nebraska State Patrol are investigating the crash. Sterling Fire and Rescue responded to the scene, at around 1:20 a.m.
Authorities said it’s not known at this time whether traffic speed or alcohol use were factors in the crash.
