South Carolina has landed its first commitment from the NCAA Transfer Portal as former Oklahoma wide receiver Jayden Gibson has announced his pledge.

The 6-foot-5, 197-pound Gibson visited South Carolina on Saturday. Gibson makes his way to the Gamecocks after spending the last four seasons at Oklahoma.

In 2022, Gibson played in nine games, primarily on special teams, while recording one catch for 12 yards. In 2023, Gibson took a big step forward as he logged 375 yards and five touchdowns on 14 receptions. In his 2023 campaign, Gibson caught two passes for 50 yards against Iowa State, two passes for 82 yards against BYU and two passes for 76 yards against TCU.

However, the former four-star wideout missed the 2024 season due to a knee injury. Gibson then experienced a setback in the spring as he also missed the 2025 season and departed the program in October.

Gibson signed with Oklahoma out of West Orange High School in Winter Garden, Fla. in the 2022 class. He was tabbed as the No. 181 overall player in the country and the No. 27 wide receiver.

Gibson joins a South Carolina wide receiver room that returns multiple players, including Nyck Harbor, Jayden Sellers, Donovan Murph and Mazeo Bennett Jr. The Gamecocks saw two receivers enter the transfer portal in Brian Rowe Jr. and Vandrevius Jacobs.

Here’s more on Gibson from his Oklahoma profile.
