EastEnders spoilers follow for Monday’s episode (5 January), which is available to watch now on streaming service BBC iPlayer and hasn’t yet aired on TV.
EastEnders has aired a sudden exit for Kat Moon, as she leaves Walford to get answers about Anthony Trueman’s death. Kat’s daughter Zoe Slater is currently in prison, having been charged with Anthony’s murder, but Kat is convinced that she was framed and Chrissie Watts is the real culprit.
Kat got a lead in today’s episode, with absent Sharon arranging for her and Sam to visit Chrissie’s former cellmate Dor to find out where she is hiding.
But Kat was worried about Jean, who has turned detective and is desperate to solve the mystery of Anthony’s death, even setting up an incident board in the house. Alfie kept an eye on Jean, concerned about her declining mental health, but couldn’t stop her obsession.
Later, Jean told Alfie that she had cracked the case and accused a shocked Jasmine of killing Anthony. She brought up a private phone call in the toilets, but Jasmine explained that she was just trying to get in touch with Oscar.

Alfie then accompanied Jean to her doctor’s appointment, but Jean continued to tell the psychiatrist about the murder case. He noticed that Jean was in a high mood and advised altering her bipolar medication, but she stormed out.
Kat returned from her meeting with Dor, with the name of a hotel in Corfu where she might be able to track down Chrissie. She decided to head abroad for a few days to try and get answers, with Alfie assuring her that he can look after Jean himself.
Jasmine attempted to talk Kat out of going to Corfu, scared about being in Walford alone, but Kat promised that Jean would never hurt her.

Jean called round to see Yolande in a frantic and panicked state, shouting about Jasmine. Yolande eventually snapped and told Jean to stop, seeing as Patrick is in the house grieving his son.
Outside, Jean continued to follow Jasmine and kept watching her every move. Could Jean be right about Jasmine, or is her mind playing tricks on her?
EastEnders airs on Mondays – Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer, where most episodes drop early at 6am ahead of their TV broadcast.
