“As 2025 comes to an end, so does my baseball playing career,” Datres wrote Thursday on his Instagram account. “Hanging up the cleats after playing this game since I was 5 years old. Baseball took me all over the country, more importantly it introduced me to lifelong friends and unforgettable memories.”

“The game taught me countless life lessons, but the relationships built along the way will always mean the most. Forever thankful for baseball, and especially for my family and friends who supported me every step of the way. Onto whatever God has planned next. Thanks for everything baseball and Deuces 2025 ✌🏼⚾️

Datres, who turned 30 on Monday, spent the 2025 season with the Cleveland Guardians’ Triple-A affiliate. In 39 games with the Columbus Clippers he slashed .204/.311/.292 before he was released in June.

A 12th-round draft pick out of UNC, Datres reached Triple-A with the Rockies five years after his final collegiate game.

In 48 games at the highest level of minor league baseball, he slashed .207/.311/.307. The Guardians signed Datres to a minor league contract in March 2025.
