Key Stories to Watch
Adversity has finally struck the Avalanche. Against the Tampa Bay Lightning, Colorado will be without team captain Gabe Landeskog, top-pair defenseman Devon Toews, starting goalie Mackenzie Blackwood, and depth forward Joel Kiviranta. All of them sustained injuries over the past week. Bednar said Landeskog and Toews are week-to-week.
The Lightning are riding a seven-game winning streak, and will look to extend that against an Avalanche team that saw its 10-game run come to an end in South Florida on Sunday. Tampa Bay had its five-game winning streak snapped against the Avs two months ago.
Colorado is likely riding with goalie Scott Wedgewood for the third time in three games, although it’s not confirmed that he’ll start. Wedgewood played both back-to-back games over the weekend in Blackwood’s absence.
