NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) — North Charleston Police arrested a man for allegedly breaking into a neighbor’s apartment Wednesday morning.
Kenneth Lee Gilliard, 19, is charged with first-degree burglary and first-degree assault and battery.

Officers responded to a reported burglary at the 2200 block of Greenridge Road just before 8 a.m. Upon arrival, the victim told officers that she was awakened by her neighbor when he went into her bedroom and started touching her inappropriately around 2:50 a.m., thinking it was her boyfriend at first, according to the incident report.
When she asked him why he was in her apartment and how he got in, he said that he was there to ask for some tissue and got in through the unlocked door. She later asks Gilliard to leave as her two children were in the apartment at the time of the incident.
When she got up to see if the door was open, she noticed the key she had left underneath a doormat for her boyfriend had allegedly been moved and was sitting outside next to the mat.
Gilliard was booked and sent to the Al Cannon Detention Center.
