Florida State has landed a commitment from Auburn left tackle transfer Xavier Chaplin on Friday morning, a day after he concluded his visit to Florida State.
Chaplin chose the Seminoles over Kentucky, where he visited prior to his trip to Tallahassee.
Chaplin, who is listed at 6-foot-7, 348-pounds, started all 12 games at left tackle for the Tigers in 2025, totaling 823 snaps and finishing with a 56.6 PFF grade on the season. He was a better pass blocker (71.1 grade) than run blocker (56.1) and was a bit penalty prone with 12 flags called on him last season. He gave up three sacks, three quarterback hits and 17 pressures.
He arrived at Auburn last offseason via Virginia Tech, playing the previous three seaons for the Hokies. He was their starting left tackle in both 2023 and 2024.
247Sports ranks Chaplin as the No. 67 overall player and No. 7 offensive tackle in the transfer portal.
He joins a transfer offensive line class for FSU that features three other commitments: Bowling Green offensive tackle Nate Pabst, Purdue center Bradyn Joiner and Troy interior offensive lineman Paul Bowling.
