Travis Kelce is in talks with networks and streaming services for his post-NFL career — but that’s nothing new, a source tells PEOPLE.

The NFL star, 36, has spent “years” discussing his options with major networks, the source says, and those talks are separate from his decision on whether he’ll return for a 14th season in the league.

“Travis has been in discussions with every major streaming service, including Netflix, and every major network for the past several years,” a source says. “And that is not affecting his decision whether or not he is returning to football because those discussions have been happening for the past several years.”

As he gears up to settle down with fiancée Taylor Swift, Kelce is facing a long offseason — for the first time in a decade.

With the Chiefs out of playoff contention, the 36-year-old NFL vet has not yet revealed his next steps.

While speaking with reporters following the team’s final game of the season on Sunday, Jan. 4, Kelce said he was going to spend some time with the organization, go through exit meetings and “get close to the family and figure things out.”

As for when he’ll make a decision, Kelce said “either it hits me quick or I gotta take some time.”

“I think last year was a little bit easier,” the NFL player continued.

Earlier this week, Kelce also jokingly referred to co-hosting his podcast New Heights as his “only job.”

“I am officially jobless,” Travis told his older brother, Jason Kelce, during the Wednesday, Jan. 7 episode of their podcast. “Actually, this is my only job.”

In the meantime, the athlete has put in the work behind the scenes, collecting credits as a game-show host in Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity? and even appearing alongside Swift in a memorable Eras Tour cameo.

Kelce has been hailed by those in the entertainment industry for his “natural charisma” and has called out his own ability as “coachable” — when he’s not been catching passes or running in touchdowns.

In a cameo in last year’s Happy Gilmore 2, the Cleveland Heights, Ohio product stood out, the movie’s director told PEOPLE.

“Kelce was fantastic. He’s a hard worker, and he wanted to do right by the film… everybody did,” director Kyle Newacheck told PEOPLE. “I think Kelce’s just so charismatic.”

The tight end also won raves for his appearance in Ryan Murphy’s Grotesquerie.

“He handled the material like a pro,” co-star Nicholas Chavez told PEOPLE at the time. “He’s awesome.”

Kelce’s acting chops first grabbed headlines when he hosted Saturday Night Live in 2023, just weeks after the Chiefs beat the Eagles in Super Bowl LVII.

“He hosted once, and he did a great job. He was really funny,” SNL alum Tim Meadows told PEOPLE. “I like him a lot. I think he’s really funny.”
