An engagement ring detail sparked additional conversation online

Zendaya’s newest wax figure is officially revealed, and the unveiling was quickly met with a wave of online reaction. Madame Tussauds New York debuted the statue on Jan. 6, drawing inspiration from the look she wore to a Dune: Part Two fan event in Mexico City.

The figure reflects the sleek, fashion-forward outfit from the appearance, complete with textured leather elements, a slit skirt and statement jewelry. The museum frameed the statue as a tribute to Zendaya’s influence, but fans immediately began examining the details more closely.

Reactions across social media ranged from cautious approval to open skepticism. Some viewers noted that wax figures are notoriously difficult to perfect, with one person commenting that it is “realistically not that bad” compared to other celebrity statues.

Others focused on aspects of the likeness that they felt seemed slightly off. “They’re usually so on point with these,” one fan writes, while another said that Zendaya’s wax figures never seem to fully resemble her.

The museum emphasizes that each figure is created through a lengthy and highly detailed process. Artists begin by sculpting the figure in clay before carefully applying layers of paint designed to give the skin a natural glow.

According to Madame Tussauds, more than 20 artists work together over the course of a year to complete a single statue. The process combines long-standing artistic techniques with modern methods used to capture a lifelike appearance.

“Zendaya has earned her place among today’s most recognizable and respected stars,” says Tiago Mogadouro, general manager of Madame Tussauds New York. He describes the figure as a reflection of her lasting impact on both entertainment and fashion.

The new unveiling marks Zendaya’s 10th Madame Tussauds figure overall, highlighting the breadth of her career and public influence. Her first statues debuted in 2015 in Orlando and San Francisco following an in-person sitting where artists gathered extensive measurements and reference photos.

That early sitting helped establish the foundation for future figures, which have continued to evolve alongside her career. Over the years, her wax statues have sparked both admiration and debate, mirroring the intense public interest surrounding her image.

The latest figure is now on display at Madame Tussauds New York, where visitors can pose alongside the actress.
