PORTLAND, Ore. — This weekend’s Project Pabst festival will feature some big names in music alongside bands from right here in Portland.

One of those local bands is an indie rock group called Dustbunny. Two years ago singer and guitarist Chloe Flores and four friends formed the group.

After playing mostly house shows and smaller venues, Chloe says performing at Project Pabst with headlining acts like Devo, Iggy Pop, and Japanese breakfast feels surreal.

“I kept joking about how the lineup looks like an AI-generated Spotify playlist for me. They took all my favorite artists and generated a festival, and our name looks photoshopped on there,” said Flores.

It’s grunge-meets-shoegaze in Dustbunny’s first album “Machinery.” The band currently has another album in the works with a target release date of sometime before the end of this year.

“We’ve released a couple singles. One is called ‘Jane Is Sideways’ and the other is ‘Sheltering.’ Those are two singles from the new album that we have already released, and we’ll be playing those, but we’ll be playing some unheard stuff too,” Chloe said.

Dustbunny takes the Unicorn Stage at Project Pabst this Sunday, July 27 at 2 p.m.

The Exploding Hearts and Nasalrod are two other Portland bands performing at the festival this weekend, as well as Pacific Northwest royalty like Built To Spill and Death Cab For Cutie.
